Reflection

I think that maybe professor can grade our performance based on the interaction between the key pal and us and the progress which us make.
I give myself point 7. I think that I did not do everything perfect, but I make great progress on the assignments. Through many weeks’ efforts with my key pal, I learned many skills from her, such as the importance of the coherence, and grammar errors. And my key pal also said that I really performed better and better through the past few weeks. Therefore, I think I can earn point 7.
I give my key pal point 10. She is really nice and intelligent. She always gives me some useful suggestion like the coherence, grammar, and the same words which can substitute to the common ones. When I forget to do the assignments or do the assignment later for the deadline, she will remind me thoughtfully. So, I think she deserved the point.

Week 11

Question 1
I like the time when teacher let us discuss the issues or problems on the class or share the opinions with my classmates. In my point of view, this is an important time for students to learn again what they learned before and student can avoid not to be so subjective through discuss to their classmates. In addition, it could be a best way for students’ interaction. Everyone can know others’ thoughts and they will gain many aspects based on one issue. If one just sticks to his or her thoughts and reject to accept another’s, they will be completely subjective, and do not know how to communicate with others. So, I think discuss on the class is significant and necessary for every class activity.
Look the opposite, I do not like the class which just only read the book and do not have some interesting activities. On one hand, students will feel bored and lost their interest on the class. On the other hand, students will learn little from the class for the teacher arranges the content and do not extend the extra knowledge. In conclusion, it will limit students chance to accept new aspect for the issues or the problems.
Question 2
The fun activity I experienced recently is show and tell. This is an activity which let every student to introduce something interesting or funny happened in their lives. Students need to step to the stage, use the power point, and introduce their topic in English. It quite funny to some extent and it always brings the audience burst into laughter for they will try their best to get the highest score on the show.
Question 3
I always seek for my friends or teachers’ help when I encounter the difficult knowledge. Like the point I mentioned above, it is very important for us to discuss the problems we face on the class. In addition, I will use the Internet to find the information about the knowledge as well.
Question 4
Based on the question 1, 2, 3, I think I am the type of open learning. I like to discuss to classmates on the class, and share my opinions on the issues. In addition, I love to know others’ opinions as well. It can not only expand my horizon but also teach me how to accept the voice which is different from yours. So, being an opening learner will gain more opportunity to know the knowledge when you are on the class.

I graded myself score 7.
I think my paragraphs through these two months are getting better and better; however, I always make the same mistake my key pal often reminds me, such as some grammar error, and coherence. Therefore, I think I cannot get the higher than eight score for I still make some errors. When it comes to my content, after I looked through others’ paragraph through these two weeks, I think there are still some demerits laid in my paragraph, like I always talked so many things but they completely not related to the topic. Look to the opposite, someone’s paragraphs will be brief but stick to the topic from the beginning to the end. As my point of view, I think the coherence is the most important of all the elements which a good paragraph need to equip with. So, I think the improvement which I will make for the remaining semester will be the coherence and the content. I will make a good coherence and the content, use the different words to describe the same things and try to make my paragraph rich in different aspects and not to be superficial.

As to the grade, well, I will grade us 8.
I browsed some other students' blogs and found that they exchange mostly their ideas about the topic, not discuss the writing techniques. So my comments seem quite different from theirs.
By now, I think you have made great progress in writing skills.
So, for the rest tasks, I think I will share more opinions about the topic with you.

The strawberry generation

Nowadays, everyone will use “The strawberry generation”on behalf of the younger generation. This word is used to express a generation who cannot bear too much stress; who is too vulnerable to stand the frustration from the reality society; who always pays their attention on the appearance but not the content of the things. In our daily life, the expression, the younger generation, always be replaced with the strawberry generation from the newspaper, magazines, and some news on TV, as well. However, in my point of view, I think that this stigma is not a correctly expression to indicate all of us, the younger generation. Most of the younger generations are always stuck to the sticker of the strawberry generations by the mass media; however, this is not a proper representative of us for not everyone of the generation is that kind of person they think. Therefore, when the working hard adults of this generation are seeking the new job, they always face the obstacles and cannot get the job smoothly just because the misunderstanding from the outside world. Moreover, nobody ever thinks that why the generation will become this kind of personality. They just contribute the reasons to the younger generations who are not working hard and just abandon themselves in the entertainment. However, as far as I am concerned, I think that part of the responsibilities come from their parents. Nowadays, many parents spoiled their children and give what they wants instead of teaching them the cruel of the real society. So that is why the new generations grow comfortably and frustrated seriously.
As for me, I think that I am a little bit like the generation of strawberry. Whenever the frustration comes, I always cannot stand the stress and do not want to face the music. However, I am not the pursuer of the appearance and the entertainment. Maybe my personality will change as soon as I step into the career life, and this is all I hope to, to strip the sticker of the strawberry generations.

The childhood dream

I usually look at my mistakes as experiences and lessons. From the very beginning, when I was young, I did some mistakes; the only thing I want to do next is fleeing away. However, when I grow up, I learn to face the mistakes what I had done, and try to solve them as soon as possible. No sooner than I learn to cope with my mistakes and I know that it is easy for me to admit what I have done and try to take the fault as an experience or lesson.
I define mistakes as a careless thought to affect our action. When someone is affected by the wrong thought, and then he or she may make the mistakes. The level of mistake could be from big to small. Some small mistake could only affect you, but the opposite could be very serious to influence your friends or family. However, it does not matter when someone makes the mistakes, but it is really important for all of us to cope with the mistakes personally. To cope with the mistakes, one should find the origin of them and solve the problem in it. Sometimes consult your friends or your parents for coping the mistakes is another good way for you to learn experience. Like the professor said in the video: “Experience is what you get when you did not get what you wanted.” “Most of what we learn, we learn it indirectly.”We learn indirectly from the mistake and get experience directly.
Yes, I think the way Prof. Pausch thought is the same as me. Mistakes are not important but the experience and lesson we gain from it directly is really the matter.

The picture of collaborative learning is showing a flexible ways for coursework across the curriculum, and it lies in its cooperative stance, which supports students in working together to make a perfect research. Every step which is mentioned on the picture is the same level of importance, and they are related to each other. Take something for example, the step of “posing the problems”, which means students need to have some questions or issues first, and then the step “Generating to multiple perspectives”, can take its purpose to work. In sum, following the steps we can cooperate with our friends more effectively and efficiently.
The part “posing the problems” of the Collaborative Research Model is the best step which I like most. The purpose of this step is to allow the teachers and the students to share their meaningful, effective and efficient endeavor for the Collaborative Learning, and I think this is the most important of all the parts. It is not only the very beginning of the model but also the origin of all the research. So, I really take this part importantly and I will take action whenever I need to use it.
The part always bothers me would be “Making informed decision.”Whenever I try to make a decision, I always spend so much time on it. I am a indecision person, and that is the reason why our team members are often mad at me and annoying that our results are always needed to postpone. I always remember that when I was in senior high, I had a team research—The climate change. This topic for the research is chosen by ourselves, and the leader of our team asked us needs to present a topic and content in order to finish the work quickly. However, as a indecision person, I delayed the time and; as a result, our schedule are needed to be postpone. Through all the research, problems always came out and I found it was difficult to cope with it at that time. But as I knew this collaborative model today, I found it is not difficult to deal with it. Just follow the steps the website are presented. And most important of all , we need to discuss the consequence after the research. In this way, I think I would be better next time when I need to collaborate with my classmates.

NET WORK STUDENTS

When I saw this video, I was surprised at the way American college students learn by themselves. They use the different network to contact each other and share the resources they have, like: google, skype and wikispaces. Here in Taiwan, few people will surf on the Internet to study by themselves, neither am I. Taiwanese college students are just talk to each other to learn the information which he or she has, so in my point of view, I think it is a good time to change our way to study. As the technology become more and more convenient, it possible for all of us to share the reading resources with foreigners throughout the world.
Change is necessary for Taiwanese college students, as far as I am concerned, it is a good change to all of us, we can not only lessen our time to get the information but we can also improve our ability to use the Internet. So, why not change at this time?

Britney Spears

In my opinion, I will believe Spears had changed herself after so many challenges came to her. She used to be very rebellion and bad but everyone will have chance to correct one's errors and make a fresh start. But I know there are so many controversy about her behavior, such as some people do not believe her will be a good girl after she have done many things to upset them while the others have strongly belief that she still a good girl and she will turn a new leaf . No matter what they said, I think Spears will do the right thing after she lose so many fans.
My judgment based on the hardship she had been through recently. As the article said, Spears went to the rehab to renew hersellf , and it was really a great punishment for her to take. So, I strongly believed that Spears will come back to the new one and never do the wrong thing again to disappoint us. By the way, she had released a CD recently, I can feel her energy back and thegreat power will overwhelm all of the singer.

My parents just don't get it.

When I was young , I always heared about “I am doing this for YOU!” after my parents punished me. Take one thing for example,one day,I hang out with my friends and I was too excited at the time to go home late.Then,they,my parent, got very angrily to blame and even more punished me. I was so angry at that time, I completely can't understand the reason why they said that. Ignorant and childish as I was , I always fought against what they said and rebeled in the period.
When the time passed, I grow up more maturer and know many things of right and wrong. I also recollected the hard time when I rebeled. More maturer I am, more things Ican understand. Now I totally understand the reason why my parents laid so strict on my behavior and talk. I was regrate to the mischievious daughter I had to be. Maybe everyone would say it another time, but I will not do what I have done in my childhood, instead, I will try to accept it and take it in consideration next time.

ANSWER TO THE FIRST QUESTION
I always tell my best friends my principles and I hope that they can respect and take notice on these. As far as I know, everyone has his principles and does not want another person break them. Nowadays, college students skip class from time to time. They also take this thing as a common condition and laugh at someone who do not do that before. In my point of view, I think it a bad behavior to skip class. When I listen to the speech which 龍應台 addressed, she talked about three necessary elements which college students need to have. One of the three elements is knowledge. Through this, I can find that if I always skip classes, how can I get the knowledge, and how the knowledge come from? So, if somebody laugh at me about I never skip class, I will response to them “A successful person will never skip class.”
The other three significant elements are “Critical thinking, action and personality.”All of these are pretty important to us to consider a new direction for rest of our college lives. More reap, more gain. Maybe next time when someone else ask me to skip the class, I will ask them to go to the youtube and read the speech .
