Today, I become the child of God, just like a miracle!!

I baptized in 傳愛church today, and it is a big day for me and for my family.
Though they can not come to the church to witness for my baptism, I still can know that they agree with me and my dear Lord. Today is my birthday of being the child of God, and I can feel that I was reborn from the unhappiness and sufferings. Now, I will not turn my head to my history, I only concentrate on my cross road and prepare myself to accept the will from God.
I am so glad that Carnation can accompany me to the church and help me to go through today’s process. She is really me good friend and good sister in church. Whenever I encounter some unhappiness or frustrations, she always comforts me and encourages me to be bold and strong. I really appreciate God can give me such a good friend to accompany me, and hope I could be his child forever.

Today, I read one of the chapters of Bible—Moses. I really love this chapter for it shows me the love of God and Moses’ perseverance to the Israel people. Following is the summary of Moses’ story.
Moses was a great Hebrew man whose story was described in the Bible from the Exodus to the Deuteronomy. He was descended from Levi and born in Goshen, city of Egypt, where a new Egypt king arose and changed his race destiny. Why he was so important in the Bible was because God commanded him to go back to save the children of Israel after he fled to the land of Midian. During the long journey to the Promised Land, he showed not only the Egypt king but also the children of Israel the signs from God. And the most important sign which he showed to them is that he divided the Red Sea. After they crossed the Red Sea, they went into the wildness. In the wildness, Moses suffered many difficulties such as the food and water shortage or the Hebrew people’s disobedience. However, even though the road to the Promised Land was difficult and tough, Moses’ faith to Lord did not decrease but increase. Finally, with his obedience and trust to the God, he succeeded to save the Israelites from the sufferings and leaded them to the Promised Land, Canaan.
As my point of view, I think Moses is indeed a great man among the Israelites. The reasons why I think he is the great is because he saved not only the Israel people but also he overcame many difficulties. Every time when he was upset because of the Israel people’s weak faith to God; he still held the belief to God and encouraged himself that he can do it!
I really admire his power and faith to God, and hope I can have a strong heart to believe in God.

This week, I wanted to share the experience which I attended the ICRT English competition. I had been busy with the ICRT English speech contest for almost a month, so that I could not go home before finishing this competition. Actually, I missed my home so much when I was preparing for the competition. However, the most important thing I wanted to say is that it was a wonderful experience for me to join this contest because it taught me so many things.
Few weeks ago, I attended this competition with Carnation, Heidi, and Brenda. I found out that they all had the experience to stand on the stage and presented their speech; however, I did not have this kind of experience before. I felt upset at the very beginning; I thought I could not perform well as they did. During the time which I prepared for the speech draft, I was frustrated by my poor English ability. No matter how many times I revised the draft, I still could not write something more constructive or coherent to my topic. This was the first time I suspected my ability of writing the English composition; I always blamed myself when I could not write something well for the ICRT competition. When the competition time was around the corner, I finally found my own confidence by encouragement from my best friends: Carnation, Heidi, and Brenda. They really did me a great favor when I was frustrated and upset. They told me: remember the time when you are decided to join this competition; you need to be responsible for it.
After hearing these words, I finally strengthened my heart to face the problems. And eventually, I achieved it! I was promoted to the second competition! Although I did not win the prize in the second competition, I think this is a priceless experience. It taught me that do not easily give up your dream or look down upon your own ability. Everything is possible, just depend on how much you devote on it.

The most inspiring movie
Let me start my talk with a simple question. Are you happy? Yes? No? What is the definition of happiness? To have fine meals and sleep in big house every day? Or to be with those who love you and you love? Some people would go in for the substance enjoyment; however, others would focus on their love and faith of lives. Chris Gardner is belonged to the later type, and his story was written in this movie “The pursuit of happiness.”
This movie was based on the true story of Chris Gardner, a single father struggling to make ends meet, turning into homeless while raising his toddler son, and struggling to build a future for themselves. In the movie, even though Chris Gardner was despised by his supervisor, his determination still paid off when he landed an unpaid internship in a brutally competitive stockbroker—training program. Actually, in his early age, he developed black pride. He believed that one day the black race can be as successful as the white race. Therefore, it became the source of his power to face every difficulty, and every hardship he encountered.
Moreover, he owed his achievements to the “spiritual genetics” handed down to him by his mother. His mother encouraged him to believe in himself and sowed the seeds of self-reliance in him. Besides, not only his mother but his son is the main source of his support. In order to keep his beloved son from suffering the same misery and misfortune he had in his life, he used his willpower and faith to fight against every difficult. He told his son that don’t ever let somebody tell you that you can’t do something. If you got a dream, you need to protect it. It was the most important part of the movie which really inspires me a lot when I watch it. For it reminded me of my personal experience.
I got a dream when I was young; however, I still failed to protect it. It is a small dream which about my family, about my dear parents and about my love and faith for them. My parents divorced when I was a senior high school student. Before they separated from each other, they often got quarrel and even fought against each other. I felt scared and did not have courage to tell anyone my fear. Whenever they quarreled, my mother always got hurt. I could see that the scars were not only on her body but deep in her heart. Eventually, one day. I plucked up my courage and told my grandparents what happened in my family. My dream was shattered. I felt sad but relieved, and happy! Afterwards, I moved to my grandparents’ house. Under my grandparents concerns and love, I gradually grew out of my sadness and found my happiness again. I felt so happy to be with those who love me and I love. Now, I have told you my definition of happiness, it’s as same as Chris Gardner’s. What is yours? Do you know how to put the part of “Happiness” in your life? What is your attitude toward the pursuit of happiness? In the United States Declaration Independence, Thomas Jefferson said that everyone has the right to pursue happiness, and the part about our right to life liberty. I finally know it after I went through all the hardships in my life. Just like the movie title, happy ness, I need to put the happy attitude in my pursuit of happiness and stick to the end until the time when I catch it. And maybe the road to the happiness is not easy; I know happiness will one day knock on my door.

This week, I go to my hometown-Kaohsiung to join the basketball game. This is a big game mainly for the southern universities. As far as I know, our department competitors have practice for almost two month and they really take this event seriously. During the period of their practice, when I still sleep in my bed, they have already wake up to practice their skills again and again in the early morning. As the manger of this basketball team, I take it as important as my life, too. Therefore, I go to the game with them and cheer for them.
On the first day, the hot summer day really diminishes our vigor; especially we can not play the games in the gym. But we still win over all the teams and promote to the champion games on the second day. I am so proud of them for they surely do a great job on the basketball court. However, the achievement comes from not only their practice but also their coach- Local. Local is one of the boy basketball members, he really has a good command of basketball. Despite of the fact that the boy team loses the basketball game on the first day, he still keeps teaching the strategies for girl team of our department. Because of his good guidance, our team eventually wins the championship.
After the games, they go to the 旗津 to eat the sea food. It so pity that I can not join them for I need to go home to celebrate my sister’s birthday. They really have good time there and enjoy the sunshine radiate on their body. I can feel how happy they are and the team ship is so strong that no one can destroy it. This week, I attended the violin concerto called “The image of the Four Seasons.” It was composed by Antonio Vivaldi, the famous composer known throughout the world. I was completely amazed by the performance and it really impressed me so much. And the reason why I knew about this performance was my teacher of general education class told us, and she hoped every one of us could join it. At the very beginning, I did not get the best seat to enjoy this concert; fortunately, the reserved seats which were opened to some big guys were opened to everyone. Therefore, Wendy and I ran as soon as possible to take the seat. When we settled down, we started reading the programs of this performance, and I was really happy that I could attend such official concert again. When I was young, I always attended this kind of concert with my friends and family. However, when I grew up, I seldom heard about this art activities. So, this was the best chance for me to attend this official concert and I would concentrate through all the performance as possible as I can.
Through all the performance, I was impressed so deeply by the leader of the whole violin team—李季teacher. He really had a good command of the violin or we could say that he born with this talent. Every chapter of the Four Seasons had his solo, and I was full attracted by his solo. I really wanted to tell him that he was perfect at the violin and with no flaw to be criticized. Of course, the violin was the significant part of the whole performance, but there were still viola, cello, and harpsichord. Harpsichord was the most special part of the other instruments. Its voice was low and soft, we could hardly hear it but it really joined the whole chapters. The conductor said that it was the important element of the whole movement. Last but not the least, when the orchestra moved to the next chapter, the conductor would explain how they would play and which part was the most important for us to pay attention. Therefore, we could follow them easily and understand how the orchestra worked.
I would never forget such brilliant concert I have ever attended. And I learned by chance that the next performance was the chorus of global folk songs. And I would not miss this art activity again!

This week I read a book named “Acceptance.”Before the story; following are some questions written at the very beginning. Have you ever think of others’ opinions when you have some quarrels with them? Or you just only think of yourself and do not put your feet in other’s shoes? Last but not the least, have you ever accept something that is very hard to say yes? I keep this question in my mind and then start to read the story.
The reason why I am so impressed by this story is that it has very touching plot and the important moral. Let me summary some important content of the story. The background of this story is the Vietnam War. Everybody knows about the Vietnam War, which was the war between United States and Russia during the Cold War; however, few people know about what happened after the war. A soldier called home after the War. He said to his mother that he would come home sooner or later. But he seemed a little bit hesitate to continue. He told to his mother he want to bring a best friend home with him. This friend had no place to go, so he wanted to let him move to our home and live with them. Upon heard this, his mother admitted without any consideration. She told to her dear son that she and his father would be happy to meet this friend. However, the son said that his friend got hurt badly in the war, and he only had one arm and one leg now. Then her mother said: “Oh, my dear. I feel sorry to him. What a poor guy! Maybe we can find other places for him to lead his life.” However, the soldier insisted that he wanted to let his best friend to live with them. “Dear! You do not know that if he lives with us, he will bring much pressure to our lives. I am afraid that I can not have such ability to afford it.”
The mother said. After hearing this, the son hung up the phone and ended this conversation. And he disappeared for a period of time. Until one day, the parents received a call from the military. They were told that their son were dead. According to the scene, it seemed that their son fell from the high building and intended to suicide.
The parents felt completely grief and sorrow. Except living in grief, the parents rushed to the spot to see his dear son. But they are shock when they saw the corpse lying down to the ground. Their son had only one arm and one leg….
This story really inspired me a lot and recalled many events happened in my life. I always only think of myself when I need to make some decision. I have no idea that the influence and the impact would be. Maybe the solider was not destined to die; however, his mother’s decision changed his mind. And this is the point. After reading this story, I have an impulse that I want to share this story to all my best friends. And last but not the least, I really love this story, and I will keep this moral in my mind whenever I make some significant decision.

Recently, I learned some famous verses from my general education class. One of the verses impressed me so much is the Italy verse called “Funiculi-Funicula.” The reason why I am so interested in this song is that its’ lyrics are so funny, and I am familiar with this Italy verse since I was young. Therefore, I browsed the Internet to find some information which concerned this song and its composers the day before yesterday.
Unlike other verses, this famous song has two composers and their positions are widely divergent. One is a composer-Luigi Denza; however, the other is a journalist-Peppino Turco. What a strange team they are! Moreover, this song was composed to commemorate the opening of the first funicular cable car on Mount Vesuvius. They can not know that their song could be so popular for hundreds of years. Rumor has it that a composer heard this song and he really loved this melody, so he used part of this song into his symphony. Unfortunately, this song has its copyright, at the consequence, he was charged with invading the right. Eventually, he paid for a large amount of money to solve this problem. Recently, I read a story named “Raise your voice.” The contents of the story really inspired me a lot. It was about a girl who struggled to live in a great sorrow and grief after the death of her brother. Following is the summary of the story.
Hilary was a girl who loved music very much. She wanted to study the music school in Los Angeles; however, her father did not allow her to study the school. Fortunately, her mother and her brother helped her to apply for the school. Therefore, she could have a happy life to study in the famous music school. Her brother was a composer, they often singing together in the weekends and they will record some tapes when they were singing. She really leads a happy life in the school. And she appreciated what her brother had done to her.
However, one day when they were talking and singing happily on their driveway, a truck hit them badly. Her brother died in the accident. Fortunately, Hilary narrowly escaped from the death. However, it was a torture that she was not dead. Her father could not forgive her. She could not forgive herself, either. She thought it was all her fault. She established her dreams by the sacrifice of her brother. She could not forgive herself. After she recovered from the accident, she still lived in a great grief and sorrow. She could not sing anymore. She kept crying and crying all day long. Her teacher was worried about that, because the singing competition was on the corner.
Then, her teacher gave Hilary a tape. She told her that this tape was recorded by her brother.
She opened the tap and watched it. Inside the tape, her brother recorded Hilary’s daily life, they singing together and dancing together and how great effort Hilary has done for the singing contest. Her brother wanted to let the judges know her sister was wonderful and would not give into anything block her dreams.
Hilary’s eyes filled of tears, and she finally knew that she should face the music and braced her heart to win the competition.
On the competition, she sang the song “Someone is watching over me.” Although her brother cannot hear it, she believed that her brother would watch and take care of her in the other side of the world.
This story really recalled me many events that happen in my life. When my grandpa was dead; I felt very sorrow and I could not help crying day after day. This situation was similar to this story. So, I want to share this story with someone who lives in sorrow and grief. And hope this story can inspire everyone around the world.
Hilary was a girl who loved music very much. She wanted to study the music school in Los Angeles; however, her father did not allow her to study the school. Fortunately, her mother and her brother helped her to apply for the school. Therefore, she could have a happy life to study in the famous music school. Her brother was a composer, they often singing together in the weekends and they will record some tapes when they were singing. She really leads a happy life in the school. And she appreciated what her brother had done to her.
However, one day when they were talking and singing happily on their driveway, a truck hit them badly. Her brother died in the accident. Fortunately, Hilary narrowly escaped from the death. journal-Be a child of God 03/21/2010
This week, I begin to practice for the FLLD week. Every time when I practice either dace or work of the activity group, I always feel very exhausted. When a new semester starts, I, as a foreign language department, often have many reports and assignments. Therefore, it always drives me crazy to do so many works at the same time. The more responsibilities I have, the more pressure I get. I feel that I am the person who can not deal with my own things well and always complain about many trivial things. As a college student, I think that I can not only focus on the activities but I need to pay attention to my study and my own progress.
Therefore, I fell down to the ground thoroughly. Then, I look up to the God afresh. I pray to him hope he can guide me to the right road and make me do the right choice. I listen to him carefully, and then he gave me the strength to go through many difficulties. As a child of God, I always believe that he will look after me no matter what happens. After I listening to the God, I feel that I gain the strength again and become more patient on what I have decided to do. I know everyone throughout the world may face the difficulties just like what I had faced recently. Maybe the difficulties come from their families, jobs, and peer pressure; however, when we look up to the God, I believe that God will take care every difficulty we face, and give us the strength to face the music.
Today, I went to the church with Carnation near the school. I was so happy that I could be conversant with God again. All pressure and worry suddenly disappear when I was singing the songs. I hope I can always fill with strength to handle everything, and be loyal to God for my lifetime.

This week, I saw a movie called “Hachiko.”At the very beginning, I know nothing about this movie. However, I happened to learn this movie was about to show on the library and I was really attracted by the plot. Therefore, I went to join the activity of library to see the movie which I expected. This movie was adapted by a real story and the plot really touched me deeply in the heart. It was about a faithful dog named “Hachiko” had kept waiting for his deceased master for ten years. He had ever been a stray dog until he bumped into a college professor. The fate seized them tightly and nothing can separate them. The professor went through many difficulties to let his wife accept this poor little dog. Therefore, the relationship between this professor and Hachi is nothing but fill with lots of love and care. Nevertheless, the professor passed away for few years later after adopting Hachi. It was sad to say that Hachi did not know that his master had already passed away; he just kept waiting for his owner coming off work at the same time and at the same place.
This movie has touched many people already, and I am not the exception. I moved to tears after seeing this movie and I even had an impulse to adopt a dog right away. I kept telling my friend how wonderful this movie was and recommended them to see this movie as soon as possible. I found that I can not throw the plot out off my thought; it just kept repeating the picture of this movie. As my point of view, just like the saying goes: dogs are the soul mates of humans. People tend to keep pets as their own friends and treat them well as if they were really their own children. However, there still exist some dogs are abandoned by their owners on the street. I hope the tragedy such like that could not happen anymore. Dogs also have feeling, sensibility, and emotions. They are always faithful to their owners, and they ask nothing but only love and care. Therefore, I hope everyone can see this movie and consider that how important the value of dogs is in our lives.

week 14
Question 1
I love the weekly writing prompts which I have done for several weeks. I think it is interesting when I can communicate with my key pal. And the most important of all, I can share different opinions with my key pal and learn how to use the objective thoughts toward different things. Moreover, it is really related to my life. I always contact my uncle who lives in America with emails. I can learn some skills from key pal’s suggestion. And this communicative ways are alike the ways I communicate with my uncle. Therefore, I do really like this assignment.
Question 2
I think two people are enough in this assignment. To some extent, too much people will let things be complicated. We need to wait others to give us their suggestion. Therefore, I think we can keep the ways we use now.
Question 3
I do not encounter any difficulty when I do these weekly assignments.
Question 4
I like the project website and the design of the blog. Whenever I use the blog, I can clearly understand how to post the new paragraph. And the design I choose for myself is really simple but beautiful.
Question 5
I gained the different opinions from my key pal and I really improved my abilities of writing the paragraph. And the most important of all, I, myself, think I really have a good key pal. She always gives not only her opinion but also her suggestion of my paragraph. Therefore, I think I really gain many abilities from my key pal.
